Two summers ago, a Saturday in Livermore meant picking one thing: dinner downtown or a concert at Wente. This summer, the map has thickened enough that residents can do both without moving the car twice.
The reason is a run of new First Street openings clustered inside a six-block stretch, paired with a wine country calendar that now runs almost every weekend from May through mid-September. If you already live here, the practical question is not what is happening but how to stack it. That is what this guide is for.
First Street got denser this year
Downtown gained real capacity between February and late spring. The openings are close enough together that you can walk the whole span in under fifteen minutes.
- Zachary's Chicago Pizza, 2470 First Street, Suite 104. The deep dish chain officially opened February 2 in downtown Livermore, marking its second Tri-Valley eatery after downtown Pleasanton. It occupies the former Patxi's Pizza space.
- Slice House, 1948 First Street. Tony Gemignani's fast casual concept. Livermore Downtown Inc. lists the pizzeria as coming soon in a ground-floor retail space beneath the Legacy at Livermore. The chain is known for selling multiple pizza styles in one place, including New York, Sicilian, Grandma, Detroit, and California-style pies.
- Le Nocturne, 470 First Street. The new venue from owner Gianni Schell was targeting a mid to late May debut, replacing an earlier tenant at that address. The concept is Schell's third in the area, joining Rebel Kitchen & Libations and Black Cat, which he opened with Dina Parks. It runs supper club style with late-night service, EDM and house music.
- Doppio Zero, Livermore. Restaurant officials confirmed the Tri-Valley debut is set for sometime in 2026.
Two pizzerias, a Neapolitan concept, and a late-night French supper club opening within one year on the same street is a real shift. The corridor was already anchored by longer-standing rooms like Zephyr Grill & Bar at 1736 First Street and Yin Yin at 2083 First Street. What is new is the density and the range of hours, which matters if you are coordinating a group where half the table wants a 6:30 seating and half wants a nightcap.
The Wente concert lineup, in one glance
The marquee summer calendar still runs out of the estate at 5050 Arroyo Road. From July 25 to September 14, Wente transforms its lawn into a tribute band concert venue, with headliners including Prince tribute band When Doves Cry on July 25, Tom Petty's Petty Theft on August 16, Bruno Mars tribute 24K Magic on September 5, and Eagles-themed ILLEAGLES on September 14.

A few pieces of resident-level context most concert pages bury. Wine, cocktails, and gourmet concessions are on site with no outside food allowed, blankets or low-back chairs are recommended for lawn seating, and doors open at 6 PM with music starting at 8 PM. Parking sits among the vineyards on a gravel surface, so comfortable shoes matter for the walk from the lot. Tailgating and picnicking are not allowed.

The smaller lawns are where locals actually spend Saturdays
Wente is the postcard. The rest of the valley is where the calendar has quietly filled in.
Wood Family Vineyards, 2407 Research Drive. A July 18 concert with The Spazmatics runs 4 to 8 PM at the home of Rhonda and Michael Wood, with tickets starting at $35 and award-winning wine, food, and music.
Darcie Kent Estate Winery, 7000 Tesla Road. Open in and around Bing's Barn until 7 PM on select summer Saturdays, with final seating at 6 PM and tasting flights available. The same property is hosting Shakespeare in the Vineyards: The Tragedy of Hamlet on select Saturday nights, and Three Little Pigs BBQ has been on site for food.
McGrail Vineyards. The Sunset Concert Series features regional acts like folk-bluegrass band Crawdad Republic and tribute acts running 6 to 9 PM with food trucks, wine by the glass or bottle, and open-lawn seating. The property also runs Barrels & Bingo on the patio through the summer. Uncorked 2026 is McGrail's award night, pouring only wines that earned a Gold Medal or higher at the California Signature Wine Awards.
Fenestra Winery. The 2026 Friday Night Concert series is running on the lawn from 6:00 to 8:30 PM, with acts like CaliCeltic and Quake Catering on site. The Frankie Bones Project, a five-piece playing rock, country and reggae, appears with Crazy Empanada as the food truck. Fenestra's 50th Anniversary Dinner is August 15, a five-course paired sit-down with intermezzo tastings of older and unreleased wines.
Retzlaff Organic Vineyards, 1356 South Livermore Avenue. An all-levels yoga class on the front lawn is followed by a glass of the winery's wine.
Del Valle Winery + Fenestra Trolley Night. A trolley takes guests to two wineries for appetizers, dinner, wine, live Hawaiian music, and a hula dancer show, with festive contests and prizes.
The pattern under these listings: smaller lawns hold two to four hundred people instead of a few thousand, the food comes from a rotating cast of trucks and caterers rather than concession stands, and most tickets sit in the $35 range instead of the $55-and-up Wente price tier.
Building a Saturday around it
The First Street density is the piece most residents have not fully absorbed. It changes how you plan the night. Here is one workable stack.
- Early dinner on First Street, 5:00 to 6:30. Zachary's if you have kids and want deep dish, Le Nocturne if you want the newer room and plan to circle back for a late drink.
- Drive to a small lawn, 7:00 arrival. Fenestra, McGrail, Wood Family, or Darcie Kent depending on the week. Fifteen to twenty minutes from downtown.
- Music, 6:00 to 8:30 or 6:00 to 9:00. Bring a low-back chair. Buy the bottle on site so you are not carrying anything in.
- Late nightcap back downtown. Le Nocturne is the newest room set up for this, given the supper club format Schell described.
For guests coming in from San Francisco or the East Bay, the reverse order works better: get them to Wente for the marquee show first, then let them discover the small-lawn version on their next visit. That way you are not front-loading the biggest venue on a night when parking and gravel walks will color their impression of the whole valley.
What the summer says about downtown
Two pizza openings on the same six blocks in the same calendar year is not a coincidence. Operators are betting on foot traffic between the outlets, the wineries, and the new residential product like the Legacy at Livermore that Slice House is sitting under. Sons of Liberty Alehouse, which reviewers place near the back of Republic Square across from the outlets, has been drawing crowds for its beer selection and cocktails. Coverage of the pizza openings appeared in the Livermore Vine, which has been the most consistent local reporter tracking these announcements.
For anyone already living here, the takeaway is simple. The old rhythm of driving out to a single winery for the whole evening is not the only move anymore. The downtown corridor can carry the first and last hour of the night, and the smaller vineyards fill the middle. Between May and September, that formula holds on almost every Saturday.
